Ubuntu

Ubuntu is an installation of a series of glass vessels, presented in Venice as part of the Italian Glass Weeks 2022, inspired by designer Emmanuel Babled and artist Lara Morrell’s recent research in Africa.
The concept behind the installation is informed by African ethics of Ubuntu and holism. The pieces allude to the generative power of natural phenomena, whilst sealed vessels point to traditional African ceremonial and ritualistic wares, containers of secrets and metaphysical truths.
